Accessibility - An Honest Statement

We would rather tell you the truth now than have you arrive and find out.

It is easy to write a reassuring paragraph about accessibility that leaves the important part vague, and it helps nobody. So the direct answer first: White Chocolate is a medieval cellar one floor below street level, reached by a flight of stone stairs. The venue is not step-free and there is no lift.

For a guest who uses a wheelchair, or who cannot manage stairs, that is a genuine barrier and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

What the Building Is

The Old Town is a protected historic district and the cellars beneath it are centuries old. The physical constraints are real: the staircase is the original access, the structure is protected, and installing a lift into a vaulted medieval basement is not a matter of willingness.

This is common to a large proportion of Krakow's cellar venues rather than particular to us, though that does not make it any less of a problem for the person affected.

Guests With Limited Mobility

For guests who can manage stairs but find them difficult, the staircase is a single flight of stone steps. Some guests manage it comfortably with a little time; others do not.

Please call before you book so we can describe the access honestly and you can make an informed decision. We would much rather have that conversation on the phone than at the top of the stairs.

Other Considerations

The venue is dimly lit by design, with warm low lighting throughout, which is worth knowing for guests with visual impairments. Sound levels are conversational rather than overwhelming, which some guests find considerably easier than a conventional club.

Assistance dogs are welcome. Call ahead so we can seat you appropriately rather than improvising.
