Dzień Kobiet on 8 March is one of the most widely observed days in the Polish calendar and, it must be said, one of the most half-heartedly executed. The single supermarket tulip has become a national institution. It is well meant and almost never memorable.
An evening out is a better answer. White Chocolate is a small, exclusive club in a vaulted cellar under Krakow's Old Town, built around six private salons, warm gold lighting and a bar with a serious sweet streak. It works equally well for a group of friends marking the day together and for someone making a genuine effort for one person.

Women's Day evenings here are very often groups rather than couples. A private salon gives a circle of friends its own room for the night, which changes the whole character of an evening out. You can hear each other. Nobody is guarding a spot at the bar. The night belongs to the group rather than to whoever shouts loudest.

The other half of our 8 March bookings are people who have decided that this year will not involve a petrol station flower. A reserved table in a warm, low-lit cellar reads as thought rather than obligation, and it lasts longer than a bouquet.
The Room Itself
White leather, black velvet, gold light and a brick vault overhead. The design brief was flattering rather than loud, which matters more on an evening that is supposed to feel like a treat. The bar leans toward the sweeter, chocolate-led end of the cocktail list, though there is a full selection besides.
We open nightly at 20:00. Depending on where 8 March lands in the week, we run to 03:00, 04:00 or 05:00.

Smart. Most guests treat an evening here as a reason to dress up, and the room rewards it. Trainers and sportswear are not the right fit.
