An Engagement Party Beneath the Old Town

The news is out, the families have been called, and now the friends want their evening.

An engagement party sits in an awkward category. It is not a wedding, so it should not feel like a production. It is not an ordinary night out either, and treating it like one slightly misses the point. What most couples want is somewhere that feels like an occasion without requiring a seating plan and a timetable.

White Chocolate handles that middle ground well. A private salon in a vaulted cellar under Krakow's Old Town gives a group its own room for the evening, with white leather, black velvet and warm gold light doing the work that decorations would otherwise have to do. You arrive, you sit down, and the night looks after itself.

A Room Instead of a Reservation

The difference between a table and a salon becomes obvious at an engagement party. With a table, half the group ends up standing behind the other half. With a salon, everybody is in the same room, everybody can hear the toasts, and the couple is not stuck at one end unable to talk to anyone.

We have six salons of different sizes, so the room can be matched to the guest list rather than the other way round.

Mixed Ages, One Evening

Engagement parties tend to draw a wider age range than a normal night out - close friends, a few cousins, occasionally a parent or two. That combination works badly in a loud room. A quieter, seated space where conversation is actually possible is what makes the evening work for everyone rather than just the youngest third of the guest list.

Getting the Details Right

Tell us on the phone that it is an engagement. It changes how we set the room, where we seat the couple, and how the evening is paced. These are small things individually and they add up to the difference between a booking and an occasion.

We are open nightly from 20:00, and 18+ throughout. Call a week or two ahead if you can, particularly for a weekend date.

Frequently asked questions

Can we reserve a private salon just for our party?

Yes. We have six private salons in a range of sizes and they are regularly booked for engagements. Call with your guest count and we will match you to the right one.

Is the venue suitable for a mixed age group?

Yes. It is a seated, intimate cellar rather than a loud dance venue, which suits engagement parties well. Guests must be 18 or over, but beyond that the room works across ages.

Can we bring decorations or a cake?

Mention it when you call and we will do what we can. We would rather arrange it in advance than have you arrive with something we have nowhere to put.

How far ahead should we book?

A week or two for a weekend, less midweek. December and the carnival season are our busiest periods, so allow more time if your date falls in either.

Where are you and what are your hours?

ul. Św. Tomasza 16, 31-183 Kraków, in the Old Town near the Main Market Square. Open nightly from 20:00, closing between 03:00 and 05:00 depending on the day. Adults only.
