Krakow closes late. We run to 05:00 on Fridays and Saturdays, and plenty of venues in the Old Town and Kazimierz keep similar hours. What catches people out is that the transport system does not run on the same schedule as the nightlife.
None of this is complicated, but it is worth thinking about before the end of the night rather than during it. Here is how the options actually work.
Night Trams and Buses
Krakow operates a night network of trams and buses that runs after the regular daytime service ends. Frequencies are much lower than during the day, often around every half hour, and routes are less direct.
For a journey to a suburb it is genuinely usable if you check the timetable in advance. Turning up at a stop at four in the morning and hoping is less reliable.
Taxis and Ride-Hailing
Ride-hailing apps operate throughout Krakow and are the most common way people get home after a late night. Availability at three or four in the morning is generally good, though demand and prices rise sharply when several venues close at once.
Traditional taxi ranks operate around the edge of the Old Town. Agree the fare or ensure the meter is running before setting off.
Practical Advice
Order the car from a point at the edge of the pedestrianised zone rather than from inside it, since drivers cannot reach the Old Town core. Agree the pickup point with your group before you leave the venue.
If you are staying in the Old Town itself, walking is often the answer. The centre is compact, well lit and busy through the night at weekends.
Frequently asked questions
Do trams run all night in Krakow?
There is a night network of trams and buses running after the regular service ends, but at much lower frequency, often around every half hour. Check the timetable rather than turning up and hoping.
Are taxis available at 4am?
Yes. Ride-hailing apps and traditional taxis both operate through the night. Availability is generally good, though demand and prices rise when several venues close at the same time.
Where should we order a taxi from?
From a point at the edge of the pedestrianised zone. Drivers cannot reach the Old Town core, so pick a larger street nearby and agree it with your group first.
Is it safe to walk back through the Old Town at night?
The Old Town centre is compact, well lit and busy through the night at weekends, and walking is common. Ordinary city-centre caution applies.
What time do you close?
03:00 Sunday to Wednesday, 04:00 Thursday, 05:00 Friday and Saturday. Worth knowing when planning the journey back.
