Majówka is the long weekend that opens the Polish summer. With 1 May and 3 May both public holidays, a well-placed calendar can turn it into four or five consecutive days off, and a large share of the country goes somewhere. A great many of them come to Krakow.
The result is a city at full volume. The Main Market Square fills, the Planty fills, and by evening the busiest bars are standing room only. White Chocolate offers the opposite experience: a vaulted cellar a couple of streets off the Square, six private salons, and a room that does not get louder just because the city outside has.
An Escape From the Crowds
The appeal of our basement during majówka is straightforward. It is underground, it is intimate, and it has a fixed number of seats. When the Rynek is at its most chaotic, walking down a set of stone stairs into a warm, low-lit room with a reserved table is a genuine relief.
It is close enough to be convenient - a short walk from the Square - without being caught up in the worst of the crush.
Long Evenings, Late Closings
Majówka evenings run late because nobody has to be anywhere the following morning. Our hours suit that. Fridays and Saturdays we are open to 05:00, and the surrounding nights to 03:00 or 04:00. Groups tend to arrive later than usual over this weekend and stay considerably longer.
Book Before You Travel
This is one of the few weekends of the year where booking ahead genuinely matters. The city takes on a large number of visitors at once and the smaller venues fill first. A phone call before you arrive in Krakow is worth far more than one made at nine in the evening on 1 May.

Our standard hours apply: nightly from 20:00, closing at 03:00 Sunday to Wednesday, 04:00 on Thursday and 05:00 on Friday and Saturday.

How far is the club from the Main Market Square?
A short walk. We are at ul. Św. Tomasza 16, a few streets from the Rynek, which is close enough to reach easily but far enough to avoid the worst of the crowds.
