Spring in Krakow arrives suddenly. One week the Planty is bare and grey, the next it is green and the Rynek terraces are back out. The evenings stretch, the mood lifts noticeably, and the whole city starts going out again after the long winter indoors.
White Chocolate benefits from that shift. Our cellar is warm year round, but in spring it stops being a refuge and becomes a destination - a place you walk to on a mild evening rather than dive into to escape the cold. The vaulted brick, gold light and six private salons are unchanged; the mood of the people arriving is not.
Longer Evenings, Later Starts
As the light lasts longer, arrival times drift later. In January a group might be here by nine; by May the same group turns up at eleven having spent the early evening somewhere with a view of the sky. Our doors open at 20:00 either way, and Friday and Saturday closing at 05:00 leaves plenty of night on the other end.
It makes spring a good season for a second-stop venue - somewhere to move to once the outdoor part of the evening has run its course.
The Spring Calendar
Spring is dense with occasions. Women's Day on 8 March, Easter, and then majówka at the start of May, which turns the city into one long weekend. Between them there is a steady run of birthdays, engagements and graduations as the academic year winds toward its end.
Before the Summer Rush
There is a window in March and April, after winter and before the tourist season properly begins, where Krakow is at its most pleasant and least crowded. Booking is easy, the room is calm, and the city is entirely navigable.
By late May that window closes and the summer pattern takes over.

Our doors open at 20:00 year round. In spring most groups simply arrive later, having spent the earlier part of the evening above ground.

The stone vaults keep the temperature steady year round, which means warm in winter and comfortably cool when the weather outside turns warm.
