December in Krakow is the city at its most photogenic. The Christmas market fills the Main Market Square, the Cloth Hall glows, and the whole Old Town takes on the look it puts on postcards. It is also genuinely cold, and there is a limit to how long anyone can stand in a square holding a paper cup.
White Chocolate sits a few streets from all of it, one floor down. A vaulted brick cellar, warm regardless of the temperature outside, six private salons and low gold light. It is the natural second half of a December evening in the Old Town.
After the Market
The pattern is consistent through December. Groups do the market first, work through the mulled wine and the stalls, and then start looking for somewhere to sit down that is not a queue. A reserved salon a short walk away solves that neatly.
It also means the evening does not end when the market closes, which in December it does relatively early.
A Busy Month
December is our heaviest month. Company Christmas parties run from late November right through to the week before the holidays, and they compete for the same six salons as everyone else. Weekend availability disappears first.
If you have a fixed date in December, book it as early as you reasonably can. Midweek is easier but not empty.
Through to New Year
The season does not stop on 25 December. The days between Christmas and New Year are busy with visitors and with people home for the holidays catching up with old friends, and New Year's Eve itself is the single biggest night of our year.
We are open nightly from 20:00 throughout the period.
Frequently asked questions
Are you open over the Christmas period?
Yes, we are open nightly from 20:00 throughout December, including the period between Christmas and New Year. Call ahead to confirm any specific date, as the holidays themselves can vary.
Is December hard to book?
It is our busiest month, largely because of company Christmas parties. Weekend salons go first and often weeks ahead. Book as early as you can for a fixed date.
How close are you to the Christmas market?
A short walk. The market fills the Main Market Square and we are a few streets away at ul. Św. Tomasza 16, which makes us a convenient warm-up stop afterwards.
Can we book a salon for a company Christmas party?
Yes, that is one of our most common December bookings. Call with your headcount and date and we will match you to a salon that fits the group.
What about New Year's Eve?
It is the biggest night of our year and books out well in advance. If you want to be here for it, treat it as something to arrange in November rather than December.
