The Light Does Most of the Work
Edison bulbs, brass fittings and low amber light against white leather. It is a deliberately flattering room, and while nobody says that out loud when choosing where to take someone, it matters considerably more than anyone admits.
There are no overhead lights and no bright corners. The whole cellar runs at one warm, low level from opening to close.
Somewhere You Can Actually Talk
The single most common failure of a romantic evening out is a venue where conversation requires shouting. Our salons are separated from the main room and the sound stays conversational, which means an evening can be spent talking rather than gesturing.
For a first date this matters even more than for a tenth. There is nothing less romantic than mishearing somebody three times.
Occasions and Ordinary Tuesdays
Anniversaries, Valentine's Day and birthdays fill a good share of these bookings, and they are worth arranging in advance since those dates go early.
The better use, arguably, is a Tuesday with no occasion attached. Midweek is quieter, the salons are easy to get, and an evening that was not owed to anybody tends to land harder.

Can we book a private salon for two?
Yes. Our smaller salons suit couples well. Mention that it is two of you when you call and we will suggest an appropriately sized space.
Is it too loud for a first date?
No. The salons are separated from the main room and the sound level stays conversational, which is one of the main reasons couples choose us.
Which night is best for a romantic evening?
Midweek, Sunday to Wednesday, is quieter and more intimate. Friday and Saturday have more energy and run later. Both work depending on what you want.
Should we book for Valentine's Day?
Yes, and early. It is one of the busiest single dates in our calendar and the salons go well in advance.
Is there a dress code?
Smart. Most guests treat the evening as a reason to dress up. No trainers, sportswear or beachwear.
