Just Inside the Planty Ring

The park that circles the Old Town is the best way to arrive anywhere in it.

The Planty is the green belt that loops around Krakow's Old Town, laid out in the nineteenth century where the medieval walls once stood. It is roughly four kilometres of park, and it forms the boundary between the historic centre and the rest of the city. Almost every approach to the Old Town crosses it.

White Chocolate sits just inside that ring. We are at ul. Św. Tomasza 16, a few streets north of the Main Market Square, which puts the Planty a couple of minutes away in most directions. It is the pleasant way to arrive and, at the end of the night, the pleasant way to leave.

The Nicest Approach in the City

Walking in through the Planty rather than along a road changes the arrival entirely. The park is lit, planted and calm, and it deposits you directly into the Old Town street grid.

From the northern side, near the Barbican and the Floriańska Gate, it is a short walk down to us. From the eastern side, near the station and Galeria Krakowska, it is similarly quick.

Inside the Historic Centre

Being within the Planty ring means being in the medieval core, which is where the cellars are. Krakow's Old Town is built above a network of vaulted basements, and ours is one of them - brick, arched and one floor below street level.

That geography is not incidental. The reason a club like this exists here is that the buildings above have had these cellars for centuries.

Practical Details

The Old Town core is largely pedestrianised, so arriving on foot is normal and usually faster than any alternative. Taxis can reach the edge of the zone easily.

Open nightly from 20:00. Smart dress, strictly 18+, and worth booking at weekends since the venue is small.

Frequently asked questions

How close are you to the Planty?

A couple of minutes on foot. We are at ul. Św. Tomasza 16, just inside the ring, a few streets north of the Main Market Square.

Is the Planty a safe route at night?

It is a well-lit and heavily used park in the centre of the city, and it is the normal pedestrian route into the Old Town in the evening.

Can a taxi drop us at the door?

The Old Town core is largely pedestrianised, so taxis generally stop at the edge of the zone. From there it is a short walk to us.

Why are so many Krakow bars in cellars?

The Old Town is built over a network of medieval vaulted basements. They have been in use for centuries, and a good number of the city's best rooms are one floor below street level.

Do we need to book?

At weekends, yes - we are a small venue with a fixed number of seats. Midweek you can often walk in, though a call is safer.

Just inside the ring

Call to reserve a salon a couple of minutes from the Planty.
