What to Wear - The Short Version

Almost everything you own is fine. The shoes are the problem.

Men's dress codes generate more confusion than they should, largely because the word smart sounds stricter than it is. You do not need a suit, a tie or a jacket. What you need is to not be wearing the specific things that get refused.

The single most common reason a man is turned away from a Krakow club is footwear, and it is almost always someone who assumed that expensive trainers count as smart. They do not.

What Passes

Dark jeans or chinos with a shirt, a polo or a decent knit, and proper shoes. That combination will get you in anywhere in the Old Town and is what a large share of our guests wear.

A jacket lifts it and is never wrong in a room like this, but it is not required. Business clothing straight from the office is ideal and needs no adjustment.

What Does Not

Trainers of any kind, including clean, expensive and fashionable ones. Tracksuits and sportswear. Shorts. Football shirts and club colours. Vests. Anything with a hood as the outer layer.

This is not a judgement on the clothes, which are perfectly good clothes. It is a door policy applied consistently, and door staff do not make exceptions based on the brand.

The Situations That Catch People Out

Three recur. Arriving from a football match in club colours. Arriving from a concert in merchandise. And arriving at two in the morning from a venue with no dress code, assuming the rules relax with the hour. They do not.

If your evening starts somewhere casual and ends here, plan the change of clothes at the beginning rather than discovering the problem at the door.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a suit or a jacket?

No. Dark jeans or chinos with a shirt or a good knit and proper shoes is entirely sufficient. A jacket is welcome but not required.

Are trainers really not allowed?

Correct, including clean and expensive ones. It is the most common reason men are refused entry at Old Town clubs, so it is worth taking literally.

Can I wear jeans?

Yes, dark and in good condition. Ripped or heavily distressed jeans are a different matter and are better avoided.

Does the dress code relax later at night?

No. It is applied at the door at every hour, including at two or three in the morning. Groups arriving late from casual venues are the most frequent refusals.

Can I come straight from work?

Yes, ideally. Business clothing meets the code without any adjustment at all.
